Carolina was born and raised in Porto Alegre, in southern Brazil, where her upbringing was shaped by the intercultural connections within her Uruguayan family. Because of her background, Portuguese is her native language and Spanish is her second language. From an early age, she developed a strong interest in languages and migration, influenced in part by her experience as the daughter of an immigrant and her firsthand understanding of the challenges that come with building a life in a new country.
With an academic background rooted in education, Carolina earned her bachelor’s degree in History, with a teaching credential, graduating with highest academic honors. She later earned a master’s degree in U.S. History, focusing on borderlands history, particularly the U.S.-Mexico border. Both degrees were completed at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil.
Between 2025 and early 2026, Carolina lived and worked in Ireland, gaining firsthand experience with the challenges of living and working abroad. This experience deepened her understanding of the complexities of immigration and the personal journey behind each individual’s story.
In June 2026, Carolina joined Massa Viana Law as a member of the USCIS team, led by Attorney Amandha Pacheco. She works on waiver applications and other immigration matters, collaborating closely with Attorney Miranda Leo as well.
Outside of work, Carolina enjoys reading, taking her beloved Boxer for walks, playing musical instruments, and taking dance classes.
