Julio was born and raised in Campina Grande, Brazil, and before joining Massa Viana Law practiced law as an attorney for over 10 years in his home country.

He currently works as a Paralegal on our immigration law team, tasked with assisting attorney Viana in the firm’s Removal Defense work, as well as in the preparation of family-based petitions.

Julio earned his bachelor’s degree from UniFacisa School of Law in 2010, becoming a member, licensed to practice, of the Brazilian Bar Association in 2011. Immediately before moving to the United States, Julio was elected for a three-year term as State Advisor for the State of Paraíba’s Bar Association.

Even though he holds a specialization title in Social Security Law, Julio served on many different roles throughout his career in Brazil, including a seven year long stint as Legal Advisor at the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation in Campina Grande and nine years as partner at a Law Firm in the same city, where he mostly practiced labor law and civil law.

A self-described political aficionado, Julio dedicated the past 6 years of his career to political campaigns, serving as Legal Political Advisor, Legal Regional Campaign Manager and Legal Campaign Manager.

When not at work, Julio enjoys a quiet lifestyle. He loves to read and to volunteer at his church’s social media team.

He is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
